The Reality of Cloud Cybersecurity in Taibah University: a case study

Abstract

Cybersecurity is one of the most important factors that affects the quality of the educational process and the continuity of operations within universities. Therefore, it is important to take the necessary security measures to ensure the security of cloud computing. The aim of the study was to identify the key topics of cybersecurity in cloud computing and clarify the cybersecurity controls for cloud computing in Saudi Arabia. It also aimed to comprehensively explore the cybersecurity situation in cloud computing at Taiba University. The study adopted a descriptive approach and used a checklist as a data collection tool. It analyzed the content of primary sources and conducted open interviews with a study sample consisting of cybersecurity engineers and information technology department staff. The study concluded that it is necessary to apply security controls and standards to maintain data security. The cybersecurity controls document for cloud computing aims to achieve the national goals of cybersecurity and improve preparedness for cyber risks. There is also a high degree of implementation of cybersecurity controls for cloud computing at Taiba University. The study recommended the need for a guiding roadmap regarding the required security measures and practices to protect cyber systems and networks by the National Cybersecurity Authority. It also recommended collaboration between Taiba University and cloud service providers within Saudi Arabia to ensure quick response, compliance with state legislation and laws, and support for the local economy. The study encourages further research in the field of cybersecurity for cloud computing.
