Abstract

In the rapidly evolving landscape of modern technological advancements, the Internet occupies a central role in various aspects of human life. This is driven by the widespread use of mobile devices, the availability of high-speed and low-cost network connectivity, the increasing number of Wi-Fi-enabled devices, and the growing demand for smartphones. This digital landscape has led to the emergence of a modern technological boom known as the "Internet of Things" (IoT), which represents a fundamental shift in the way services are delivered to users.
This technology relies on connecting physical elements and enabling them to communicate with one another and with humans. It can be simply defined as the technology that allows objects to communicate with each other and transmit data using an IP address without any human interaction.
Within this global context of digital transformation, academic institutions and their libraries have taken on an important role in keeping pace with these developments to enhance the services they provide to their user communities. The Lebanese Academic Library Consortium (LALC) is the first official academic library consortium in Lebanon and serves as an important platform for studying the potential adoption of these modern technologies within the context of Lebanese academic libraries.
