The recent widespread use of artificial intelligence in cataloging and classification processes heralds a new shift and significant development in technical operations in libraries. The study aims to review the most prominent developments in the use of artificial intelligence in cataloging and classification, particularly with regard to the technologies used and applications in cataloging and classification, as well as highlighting the benefits, implementation challenges, and future directions. The study relies on a descriptive and analytical approach based on an induction of recent studies on the subject. It has been shown that the use of artificial intelligence in cataloging and classification is a promising application that increases the efficiency and accuracy of cataloging, in addition to saving time. However, there are some challenges related to the fact that the use is still in its early stages and therefore does not have the necessary accuracy, and that the matter requires some additional costs, training of employees, and the construction of an appropriate infrastructure. Future trends indicate the potential for improvement and development that will lead to greater use of advanced AI tools in cataloging and classification processes.
