Abstract

In light of the environmental challenges and the increasing pressure on natural resources, it has become necessary for libraries and information institutions to adopt sustainable technologies and practices to achieve a balance between providing their services and preserving the environment. This study holds significant importance in light of the growing interest in sustainability across all fields, particularly within information institutions, which represent a point of intersection between knowledge and technology.
By exploring the dynamics of green technology use, the study highlights how environmental technology can be integrated into the provision of sustainable information services within information institutions. Furthermore, the study provides a framework for information institutions wishing to adopt these technologies, thereby enhancing environmental awareness in society and boosting the ability of information institutions to adapt to a sustainable future.
The study used the descriptive-analytical approach, and the results showed that the use of green technologies within information institutions can contribute to achieving service sustainability by reducing energy consumption, using renewable energy sources, and improving resource management. The study recommends providing financial and technical support to information institutions wishing to implement green technologies, launching awareness campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of green technologies and their impact on environmental sustainability in information institutions, and encouraging research and development in the field of environmental information technology to explore innovative solutions that can be applied in library and archival environments.
