Abstract

Green libraries play an important role in preserving the environment and achieving environmental sustainability, especially the climate changes we are seeing now, which led to a global conversation to adapt to a new reality associated with environmental changes and Egypt's Vision 2030. the research aim to assess the implementation of the concept and orientation of the green library in Arab libraries, especially Egyptian libraries, in the light of the international, regional and local experiences and the possible solution of the decreasing budgetary problems experienced by libraries in the Arab world and Egyptian libraries in particular. The research builds on the descriptive approach to its survey and case study methodology to monitor the realities of green libraries' application. One of the results of the research is the lack of research in the field of green libraries, especially Arab research, and there are many Arabic models that have completed the application of the green library concept in varying proportions, some of which have the building, others with the equipment and some of the third awareness programs The research recommended that Egyptian and Arab library specialists should have environmental awareness of green transformation and develop educational and awareness programs to encourage beneficiaries to apply sustainable green practices, and focus on preparing research and studies on the use of modern technologies such as artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and block chain in supporting the transition to green libraries whether for energy saving, waste recycling or environmental awareness among library staff and beneficiaries.
