Abstract

The twenty-seventh annual conference of the Specialized Libraries Association, Arabian Gulf Branch, was held in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the Qatar National Library and under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and President of the Qatar National Library, entitled: “Employing Smart Technologies in the Environment of Special Libraries and Information Institutions” The conference was held at the Mondrian Qatar Hotel in the period from 5 to 7 March 2024, and its sponsors Naseej Company as a diamond sponsor, Dar Al-Mandumah as a gold sponsor, and the bronze sponsorship was shared by: Wiley Online Library, and the EbiscoHost research platform. EBSCOhost and the Arab Digital Research Institute (ADRI).
Dr. Andrew Cox from the University of Sheffield, UK, and Dr. Salem Al Shuaili, Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies Projects in the Sultanate of Oman, as keynotes speakers.
526 individuals registered for the conference, and 371 participants from various Arab and foreign countries actually attended. Most of the participants were from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, presented by academics and professionals specialized in the field of libraries and information.
