Freelance Platforms in the Field of Libraries and Information : a Planning and Evaluative Survey Study to Design an Arab Platform

Abstract

This Study aims to Monitor Arab and Foreign Freelance Platforms that include Librarians and Information Specialists since 1998, and their Role in finding job Opportunities for them, inventorying their Evaluation Criteria, and Proposing a viable Plan to Design an Arab Freelance Platform in the field of Libraries and Information, In order to attract Graduates of the Libraries and Information Departments towards Freelance Platforms. The Study based on the Descriptive approach in its survey and evaluative style, and the Study also used Checklist and Sessions Direct Connection to the Internet As Tools for Data Collection . the Study reached a set of results, the Most Important of which are: the Existence of 7 Freelance Platforms that include Freelance Librarian, and these Platforms are (Upwork-Freelancer-Guru- PeoplePerHour - Fiverr- Mostaql - Khamsat), and that Academic Programs in the field of Library and Information have a role in spreading Awareness towards working through Freelance Platforms, and there are Standards that should be relied upon when Designing Freelance Platforms in the field of Libraries and Information. The Study recommended the need to spread Awareness of the Importance of Freelance Platforms As a possible Solution to Eliminate Unemployment and the Use of the Proposed Freelance Platform and its support by Professional Associations and Institutions in the field.
