The use of audiovisual documents in an administrative environment is accompanied by several problems related to their design and their conservation in formats that comply with the specifications described in the scientific, professional and legislative references, during the cycle life, whether for their primary or secondary value. This paper presents the most important characteristics of this type of documents and the means to fix their content and prove their authenticity, such as electronic signature, digital fingerprint, ... as well as the administrative and legal challenges that arise for their long-term preservation. This work aims to define the concept and elements of the function of the durability of audiovisual documents, in addition to adjusting its position in the life cycle of documents. To do this, this article starts from the study of the terminology used then from the highlighting of the stakes of the durability of the administrative audiovisual contents before ending with the definition of the elements of the function of durability of the documents and the proposal recommendations to ensure their availability or the availability of their informational content throughout periods of need in authentic, complete and reliable and usable formats.
